This years elections are fast approaching, and soon a wave of young new voters will be hitting the polls. As these newly graduated high school seniors take to the voting booth, their opinions on the incumbent President’s four years of office can be the deciding factor on how they cast their ballot.
While the political opinions of high school seniors are extremely varied many seniors at San Dimas High School hold a somewhat positive viewpoint of President Obama
“I like him as a president; he has done a good job and the unemployment rate has gone down, plus he cares about the important things, like our environment. I hope he gets re-elected this November,” said senior Brianna Rodriguez.
Other students share very positive viewpoint of President Obama.
“Obama has accomplished some great things that have been ignored, and he deserves another chance at presidency because he is the symbol of a new feat for Americans, ” senior Renee Lahey said.
Senior Jessica Diab feels the same way, and hopes Obama will get relected.
“I know that he can’t do much in four years and it’s wrong for people to assume he is a bad president because there hasn’t been quick change” she said.
Obama does have critics on campus, even from among those students that support him.
Senior Sean Azucena supports the President but she does have some problems with his presidency.
“I don’t think he has been nearly aggressive enough and I don’t think he should ride the fence as often as he does”said Azucena but “his health care policy has been huge for a lot of people and he’ll have four more years to prove himself,” he said.
While he has much support on campus, some students are less optimistic than others.
Senior Sarah Hansen feels “no President is the answer,” Said Hansen, “Obama promised much, fulfilled some, and let down many. Many individuals help up a high standard for Obama, possibly too high, and inevitably were let down. Obama is, however a good symbol of progression towards what is yet to come.”

I’m frustrated with the fact that the contributor failed to interview at least one student who does not support Obama. Also, it appears that students at San Dimas have not done their research on him or his policies. If they had, they would have realized that he has occumulated more debt than any other president this country has had. Our generation will be shouldering this debt. He has cut the size of the military, gutted Medicare to pay for Obama Care, and violated the 1st Amendment by forcing Catholic Institutions to go against their conscience… And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

As the writer of this piece I can say that many students who did not like Obama did not want their quotes in the Halo, it wasn’t because I tailored to a certain side, just no one wanted to put there dislike for him in the paper.
