Staff Writer, Kim Spriggs

My name is Kim Spriggs. I am a junior here, and I am the staff writer for the sports section. Being apart of the staff for THE HALO is something I would never trade. The friendships you find through writing and researching a big story with your editor are irreplaceable. I love writing for sports because I like to stay informed on all the latest games and players. I joined the paper because in my future career as an actress I must be able to articulate my thoughts and Ideas well. The sports section interested me because I love supporting all the athletes at the school and writing about all their achievements. Happy Reading!

My immense amount of motivation and dedication incredibly affects me in every aspect in life, especially journalism. I am very opinionated, yet open minded at the same time. I believe with writing stories comes a responsibility to collect proper facts, as well as acknowledging what the community thinks. I hope to progress and eventually positively impact the students at SDHS, and essentially make a difference.

Staff Writer, Chelsea De Boef

My name is Chelsea DeBoef and I am a senior this year. I am a staff writer for the View Points section of the school newspaper, the Halo. I joined Journalism because I felt like it would be a great experience if I were to explore a new style of writing for myself. Joining Journalism was mainly important to me because I felt like it would be good for me to get opinions out there for the people who should be heard. This was one of the reasons of why I joined the Viewpoints style of writing. I had chosen this style because my opinions have a stand in what I strongly believe and Journalism helps get it out there. Although it may be a little difficult and demanding at times, it’s a very fun and exciting experience to get to write my own story and have it published. Journalism and the experiences that come with it have allowed my mind to be a bit more open and free.
